Favorite spice, flavor or dessert?

With the holidays just around the corner, I tend to get caught up in the pumpkin spice hoopla. Nothing hits home more than a warm piece of old time favorite pies such as apple, pumpkin, or pecan. The scintillating aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and many other spices warms the soul, comforts the mind and stimulates the palate. I continue to love those pies but have found solace and appreciation in a flavorful slice of banana bread.  As the kitchens become busier and the spice racks begin to turn more frequently, I would love to hear everyone's take on a favorite spice, flavor or dessert?
